The well-healed locals are either furiously stylish, or cultured and/or arty. A promenade down the narrow local side streets reveals a wealth of fine restaurants, serving gourmet French cuisine. Every corner is a café terrace opportunity (with the famous Flore and Deux Magots cafés very close by), while at night you'll also find several stylish bars (such as L'Alcazar and Armani Café). In Saint-Germain it's shopping galore, with France's couture labels setting the trends for the many smaller and oh-so-charming boutiques.
